The US begins to implement the Chip bill

The US will start implementing the Chip bill this week, with $53 billion in chip promotion subsidies.

The bill, passed in August last year, is supposed to encourage chip factories to return to the US amid increasing competition with China.

The US Department of Commerce is expected in the coming days to announce plans to subsidize chip production as well as details on how companies can apply for funding.

The law authorizes spending $39 billion to incentivize factories to make chips and devices, along with $13.2 billion for research, development and human resource training for the sector. Participating businesses are also offered tax credits of up to 25%.

Preliminary estimate, there have been more than 40 projects of enterprises registered since the law was passed, with committed capital investment of over 200 billion USD.

The US has great ambitions in bringing a share of the chip manufacturing market to compete with rivals from Northeast Asia, but there are also opinions that this law alone is not enough to solve all current challenges. with the US chip industry.
