Preparing for a blizzard

"Snow removal will be underway across the state, but the storm is likely to be very strong," the Minnesota government said on Twitter.

The city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, urges residents to move vehicles off the roads. The city will experience more than 50cm of snow, the heaviest in February and one of the five heaviest snow seasons in the city's history.

Traffic officials in Minnesota, Nebraska and Dakota urged people to drive slowly or not drive for the next few days.

Due to the impact of the storm, according to Flightaware.com, more than 480 flights to and from the cities of Denver, Minneapolis and Salt Lake, Utah have been delayed or canceled. In total, more than 1,300 flights were delayed or canceled across the US on the afternoon of February 21.

Meanwhile, in the southern part of the United States, the temperature increased. The city of Orlando, Florida recorded a temperature of up to 32 0 C, in contrast to the -27 0 C temperature in the city of Billing, Montana, the North of the United States.

According to experts, the increasing frequency and intensity of winter storms, alternating with extreme heat waves and droughts, is a consequence of climate change .
