Businesses "frozen" in a record snowstorm in the US

A record snowstorm is sweeping a series of states in the US, making many people surprised to terrified by the unprecedented level of damage in history.

The American South is known for its hot climate, but people in this area are facing record-breaking snowstorms . The heating system failed, and the water pipes burst due to freezing. Texas is the hardest hit.

Millions of people still struggle with arctic cold without electricity to turn on their heaters. Most people here have little experience dealing with cold weather, especially in the dark.

"I'm so tired, 3 days without power is as long as 200 years," said the American.

Because the city's water pipe broke, many people had to run to buy bottled water to use. The situation of long lines of people queuing in front of supermarkets took place. Many essential products were sold out. The largest US retail chain - Walmart announced the closure of 500 stores, most of them in Texas.

"It will take a little longer for the goods to get to the warehouse because shipping becomes more difficult in this weather," said Jim Darling, Mayor of McAllen.

Automakers including General Motors, Toyota and Ford all had to freeze factories. Airlines that have not yet recovered from the storm called COVID-19 continue to suffer from the consequences of nature this time.

The four largest airlines, American, United, Delta and Southwest, had to cancel more than 2,000 flights on February 17.

The freezing cold and power outages created another crisis for farmers. Some dairy businesses have been forced to dump $8 million worth of milk a day because factories don't have electricity to process.

State agriculture officials have put out a "red alert" for the food supply chain. They are concerned that poultry and livestock may die from the cold, and lack of food and water.
